II. ABOUT THE TGIFS @ BROOKHAVEN
Our workshops at Brookhaven Lab are generally designed for “social dancing”. We usually start with a review of the basic moves, then progress towards more advanced patterns that might be useful in any dance social.
There is no fixed partnering as we rotate partners - not only to provide an opportunity for everyone to meet and become social friends, but also to give each and everyone a chance to learn how to apply the basic techniques of “lead and follow”. We don’t offer any individual private instruction. All of our instructors, however, conduct their own private, or group instructions elsewhere outside the Lab. Please feel free to make an arrangement with any of them if you want to get more specialized dance instructions outside Brookhaven Lab.
Our weekly TGIFs @ Brookhaven, sponsored by the BNL Social & Cultural Club of the Brookhaven Employees Recreation Association (BERA), is held weekly at the Brookhaven Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). It is open to the general public. Visitors to the Lab 16 years old and older must bring a photo ID. (Non-BNL employees please read “Directions to BNL” below).
