With tapping toes and dancing feet, the time has come for us to meet.

Start your Independence holiday celebration right with a Swing Dance on the evening of July 3rd.  Since many people will be off the next day, we expect a big crowd.

It’s the second Tuesday of the month so Ellen from Matty T’s will be teaching West Coast Swing at the 7:30 lesson.

At 8PM our DJs will be playing some of their great swing dance tunes. A few ballroom dances will be in the mix as well.

The Moose Lodge has a fabulous, HUGE 1000 square foot dance floor & plenty of tables to relax and chat.

No partner is needed and beginners are welcome.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and a couple of friends, and Old Westbury Gardens provide the sounds for an enjoyable evening under the stars.  Arrive early to picnic and stroll the gardens.

Gates open at 5:00 pm.  Dance lesson at 6:30 pm.  Concert starts at 7:00 pm.  $10.00 General Admission; $8.00 - 62 and older; $8.00 - members; free for children 17 and under.

From the Long Island Expressway: Take the LIE (I-495) to Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road). Follow the service road east for approximately 1.1 miles, turn right onto Old Westbury Road and continue 0.4 miles. The Gardens’ gate is on the left.

From the Northern State Parkway: Take the Northern State to Exit 32 (Post Avenue). Bear left at end of exit ramp and turn left onto Post Avenue heading north. Turn left onto Jericho Turnpike (Route 25) and turn right at the first light onto Old Westbury Road. The Gardens’ gate is on the right.

Old Westbury Gardens, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the former home of John S. Phipps, his wife, Margarita Grace Phipps and their four children. Completed in 1906 by the English designer George A. Crawley, the magnificent Charles II-style mansion is nestled amid 160 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, woodlands, ponds and lakes. Westbury House is furnished with fine English antiques and decorative arts from the more than fifty years of the family’s residence.

Today, Old Westbury Gardens welcomes visitors of all ages for guided tours of Westbury House and Gardens, in-depth tours of the formal gardens, school visits, children’s programs and events, family programs, museum exhibits, classic car shows, indoor and outdoor classical concerts, summer concerts, slide lectures, book signings, horticultural demonstrations and workshops, Scottish Games, botanical arts and gardening classes, and Master Gardener- and Educator-led Talks & Tours of topics relating to horticulture, art, history, design and architecture.

Every summer, Old Westbury Gardens has their Picnic Pops 2007 Summer Concert Series on the great lawn. An area in front of the bandstand is reserved for dancing!

LET’S ALL GET UP AND DANCE TO SOME SONGS...from the 40s, 50s and 60s!  The SWING FLINGS @ UUFSB dance series will hold its second dance on Saturday, July 21, 2012.  Dancing skills a little rusty?  No worries.  The evening begins with a intermediate swing lesson at 7:00 p.m. taught by Ed & Maria of Swing Dance LI; social dancing will follow from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. So get out your dancing shoes and LET’S DANCE!  Some Ballroom and Latin will also be thrown into the mix.  Admission $10 per person.  Refreshments available.  50/50 Raffle and Prizes.  Questions?  Call Angela Amoroso at (631) 944-0521.  The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook is located at 380 Nicolls Road, just north of Route 347.
