The Long Island Jazz Orchestra, recognized as one of the most exciting and versatile 16-piece big bands in the New York metropolitan area, was formed by Mike Ficco with the area’s finest and most accomplished jazz musicians. The band specializes in performing original distinctive compositions and arrangements of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich and others. The band also features vocalist Frank Russo performing the songs of Dean Martin, Tony Bennet and others. Join us!

The Smithtown Historical Society’s Brush Barn is located behind the historic Epenetus Smith Tavern at 211 East Main Street, Smithtown NY 11787 and is not visible from the street. About 0.2 miles east on Main Street from the intersection of Route 111 and Route 25 (Main Street).  There is a white house that is #211 (Epenetus Smith Tavern) and a gravel drive beside the house.

Join us for night of dancing to variety of swing songs plus a few ballroom dances for good measure.  The Moose Lodge has a fabulous, HUGE 1000 square foot dance floor & plenty of tables to relax and chat.  Moose Lodge membership required to purchase alcoholic beverages at the bar!

Ellen from Matty T’s will be teaching us West Coast Swing at the 7:30 lesson tonight. 

Note:  The Moose Lodge does not serve food.  You are welcome to bring outside food, but NO OUTSIDE DRINKS.

Our Rockabilly friends are at it again with the 2nd Annual Rockabilly Rumble at our regular Tues venue, the Huntington Moose Lodge.  Three great bands, a lively crowd, food, drink, a great price.  What more could you want?  Swing dance lessons you say?  We got that covered too!  Doors open at 6 pm.

Gail Storm is a pianist and vocalist who specializes in classic blues/jazz. Though Gail draws her musical influences from traditionally based performers such as Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Jordan, many of her fans compare her to modern day performers such as Diana Krall and Marcia Ball. More over, Gail Storm regularly performs in a wide variety of venues and has radio and television appearances to her credit. In addition to her solo gigs, she also appears with other well established musicians as a duo, trio, etc..She has self-produced her two cd’s: Just The Blues (trio studio recording) and Live At The Vail-Leavitt (live sextet recording).

Joe Vicino has been a mainstay on The Long Island Music scene for awhile now. For 10 years he headed up the powerful Blues/Blues Rock Trio The SmokeDaddys, now out on his own, He is expanding his musical tastes playing with The Gail Storm Band( a mix of jazz, blues & standards) Joe is also doing some solo Acoustic work with ranges from Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, The Allman Brothers band & Eric Clapton. Look for some exciting new Electric music coming from Joe in 2009! Joe’s influences ranges from early Delta Blues, R&B, British & American Rock & Blues, Texas Blues, Americana, Jazz, and Jam music.

You're Invited!

Every Tuesday Evening

Beginner dance lessons start at 7:30 PM with dancing between 8:00 PM & 10:30 PM. We meet at Huntington Moose Lodge, 631 Pulaski Road, Greenlawn, NY.

Admission on non-band nights is $4 for members, $5 for students and $6 for nonmembers. Slightly higher band nights.

First Saturday of Month

We meet at the Smithtown Historical Society's Brush Barn. Beginner swing lesson at 7:30 PM, with dancing between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
