Kick off your holiday weekend with the Gail Storm Quartet, featuring bandleader Gail Storm on keyboard/vocals who delivers classic blues/jazz ranging from sultry ballads to jump blues with swingin’ boogie-woogie bass lines. The chemistry is electric on stage with hot sax from Shenole Latimer, driving rhythms and soul-felt solos from guitarist Joe Vicino, and sensitive rhythmic variations from drummer Bernice Brooks.
You do not need a ticket to listen from the upper level lawn, but bring a blanket or chair. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the theater.

Gail Storm is a pianist and vocalist who specializes in classic blues/jazz. Though Gail draws her musical influences from traditionally based performers such as Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Jordan, many of her fans compare her to modern day performers such as Diana Krall and Marcia Ball. More over, Gail Storm regularly performs in a wide variety of venues and has radio and television appearances to her credit. In addition to her solo gigs, she also appears with other well established musicians as a duo, trio, etc..She has self-produced her two cd’s: Just The Blues (trio studio recording) and Live At The Vail-Leavitt (live sextet recording).

Joe Vicino has been a mainstay on The Long Island Music scene for awhile now. For 10 years he headed up the powerful Blues/Blues Rock Trio The SmokeDaddys, now out on his own, He is expanding his musical tastes playing with The Gail Storm Band( a mix of jazz, blues & standards) Joe is also doing some solo Acoustic work with ranges from Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, The Allman Brothers band & Eric Clapton. Look for some exciting new Electric music coming from Joe in 2009! Joe’s influences ranges from early Delta Blues, R&B, British & American Rock & Blues, Texas Blues, Americana, Jazz, and Jam music.

Take the Northern State Parkway to exit 41 - Wolf Hill Road. Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp onto Wolf Hill Road. Continue on Wolf Hill Road until the second traffic light. Stay in the right lane. At this intersection of five roads, you will see Saint Anthony’s High School diagonally to the right. Take the second right onto Pidgeon Hill Road heading North-West. You wil pass Saint Anthony’s High School on your left. Continue up Pidgeon Hill Road about 1 mile until you reach 145 Pidgeon Hill Road. The library is next to the Long Island School for the Gifted.

We are delighted to return to beautiful East Meadow, NY, Friday night, July 2 (7:30pm), to perform again at Eisenhower Park’s Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre, in a musical celebration of America. And what better way to salute our nation’s birth than with this classic swing music, which is uniquely American--created here, perfected here and recognized around the world as one of the USA’s most significant cultural achievements!
We are proud to present our full-length program for this summer called Themes Like Old Times, featuring classic theme songs from the greatest Swing Era bands, including Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Charlie Barnet and Les Brown, plus a special 100th Birthday tribute to the legendary Artie Shaw, featuring some of the greatest hits and hidden gems from the master clarinetist’s library, such as Begin the Beguine, Moonglow, and Stardust.
In addition, our two wonderful vocalists, Bobbie Ruth & Jerry Costanzo, sing the Great American Songbook and pay homage to some of our finest singers, including Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Sarah Vaughan, Liza Minelli, Matt Munro, Nat “King” Cole, Bobby Darin and the immortal Frank Sinatra!

Dedicated to the performance of America’s greatest popular standards, SWINGTIME BIG BAND is a 20-piece authentic swing band comprised of master interpreters of music from the Swing Era (mid-1930’s through early 1950’s). The ensemble specializes in performing original arrangements of Big Band classics from the Great American Songbook, bringing to life both the style and the spirit of this music for 21st century audiences to experience in living color.
SWINGTIME thrills concert audiences and Ballroom dancers alike with authentic recreations of the timeless swing music of such great Big Band leaders as Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Woody Herman, Les Brown, Charlie Barnet and Stan Kenton, among many others.
With the recent renaissance in popularity of both swing music and ballroom dancing, this versatile ensemble has been enjoying remarkable success playing both the swing music that is its calling card, as well as a wide variety of tunes to accommodate the many varied styles requested by ballroom dancersThe Lindy, Fox Trot, Peabody, Cha-Cha, Tango, Merengue, Rhumba and Mambo, among others. Highlights of the many prestigious venues at which SWINGTIME members have performed include: Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Plaza Hotel, the Waldorf Astoria, Tavern on the Green and the Rainbow Room.
