"Welcome-To-Summer Dance Party at Brookhaven Lab”
The “Kane Daily Band” that was featured in the Music Club’s Concert in the South Room last March 28th, will return to perform at the North Ballroom of the Brookhaven Center on Friday, May 2nd, 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. during a dance social celebrating the beginning of the summer season. Early in the evening, there will be a 1 (one) hour beginner West Coast Swing dance lesson starting at 7:45 p.m.
The band is best known for classic rock, rockabilly, and blues, and features Kane Daily on lead guitar and vocals; George Ellert, an experienced, enthusiastic bass player; Joe DeGaetano on Keys; and the talented Al Henneborn on percussion.
Tickets cost $20(paid in advance, before April 30th)/$35(at the door). Only 200 tickets will be made available. If sold out before the event, no tickets will be sold at the door. (Email reservations will be considered “prepaid").
Schedule:
Cold Food Buffet dinner: 7 - 7:45 pm;
1-hr. West Coast Swing dance lesson starting at 7:45 pm; the band plays for general dancing from 9:00 pm to 12:00 pm; DJ music in-between sets;
Get your tickets at the Bera store in Berkner Hall, or anytime during TGIF @ BROOKHAVEN; Cost covers cold hero dinner buffet, cookies, refreshments, etc.
BNL Social & Cultural Club (BNL)
The BNL Social & Cultural Club holds weekly dance socials (TGIFs) and workshops at the North Ballroom, Brookhaven Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory every Friday evening from 7 to 11:30 pm.
Unless otherwise noted, workshops and lessons are from 7:10 pm to 9:30 pm with a food break in-between, followed by open social dancing up to 11:30 pm at the Brookhaven Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York.
Cost per person: $15(members)/$20(non-members), or $8/$12 for social dancing only without the lessons; members rate applies also to all Bera members with BNL ID, SDLI members with ID, students with school ID, and all subscribers of the Social-L list and the Yahoo DanceLovers group. (Special events have different rates).
Dance socials are open to the general public, but require a photo-id at the BNL front gate.
